Each fall, the Rural Reconciliation Project co-hosts (with Professor Hannah Haksgaard at the University of South Dakota Knudson School of Law) an interdisciplinary Law and Rurality Workshop, bringing together scholars from diverse perspectives and experiences to share in-progress research and work related broadly to the law’s relationship to rural people and places.

For maximum accessibility, this workshop rotates in-person and online every other year. In Fall 2026, we anticipate hosting an in-person workshop at the University of South Dakota.
